Close-Up Magician

Stephen Ablett is the 2010 North West Close-Up Magic Champion along with being the 2008 & 2009 Manchester Cabaret Magic Champion. His other achievements include being Comedy Magician of the year, International Stage Magician finalist and Magic Circle Close-Up finalist. In 2010 he represented England in the European Close-Up Magic Championships.

Much of his magic Stephen has devised himself. Stephen rose to fame when he wrote his best selling book 'Body Tricks' which featured numerous magical effects using your hands, fingers and legs. He had several other releases before he finally published 'Ring Tricks', a series of magical effects performed with an ordinary borrowed finger ring. This routine won him his first major magic competition and made him stand out amongst all other magicians as one of the best in the world.

He has had long-term contracts with the Victoria's & Albert Hotel (4 years) & Holiday Inn Hotel (2 years) performing close-up magic every Sunday as the resident entertainer. He has performed at numerous celebrity parties whose names include Rio Ferdinand, Jason Momoa, Craig Charles, Chris Barrie and Malcolm McDowell. During his fourteen years of experience, he has worked on cruise ships, ferry's, holiday parks and taught magic in his own Summer school in Los Angeles, USA.      

His magic consist of a variety effects including metal bending, mind-reading, finger-ring manipulation, elastic band magic, money sleights, card tricks and other miracles. Stephen admits that all his effects are done with sleight-of-hand and that no real magic is used, but invites you to try and catch him out, which few ever do. 

The length of shows he offers vary depending on how many spectators will be watching. He can  perform for 60 minutes to a small table of guests for a 50th birthday party or for 5 minutes at several tables, circulating around the room until everyone has seen at least one trick. He even performs reception magic where he wonders amongst your guest and performs magic, giving them something to talk about for the entire evening.
