This is a complete performance of Stephen's Christmas themed magic show in 2009. In the show, he is dressed as an Elf and performs numerous Christmas themed tricks such as the mutilated Santa Umbrella and Appearing Christmas Tree Lights. The show lasts for over an hour before Stephen then talks through the effects he performed, how you can build them and other points such as show structure and dealing with distractions. Technical: The first routine was my thimble manipulation but due to a technical fault with both cameras, it was not recorded entirely at the show itself. I have however included the same routine from a birthday party show to replace the missing footage. This is a two-camera tripod mounted shoot, studio edited and put together with a full chapter menu. In these series of 8 DVDs, you will be see 23 full magic classes taught to children between 8 and 16 years of age, and a 24th class for the magicians at home. Recorded at an American Summer camp, there was an average of 5 one-hour classes for each group of children. Stephen had to utilize the local environment to teach magic with ordinary objects. No trick cards and no fake thumbs! These classes were recorded on a single camera that was sometimes stationary throughout the class or moved around by one of the children. This wasn't recorded by a professional crew so sometimes its a little shaky, but shows the entire class in its entirety which is a great resource as an example class for others wanting to run their own magic workshops. There is no clever camera editing so you get to see everything as it actually happened. Including what went right, and what went wrong. In some cases the camera was left on the windowsill recording the entire room, while in others the children worked hand-held with the camera and recorded each other doing the tricks. The footage is very 'real-world' and not edited together into some fantasy commercial video. These are real world magic classes taught to real children and not trained actors. Using 3 ordinary borrowed coins, Stephen makes them appear, travel from hand to hand, penetrate his fist and then one by one, vanish into thin air. This is his coin routine that he performs on the street, in cabaret and close-up shows. There is no sleeving, topit or special pockets involved and the entire routine can be done impromptu. He performs the routine regularly in this children's show and is part of his walk-around close-up set. Watch and be delighted at 3 coins. My competition winning Ring routine contains 14 amazing visually eye-popping effects suitable for close-up and on the streets. There is then a five stage ring and string routine. This 8 DVD set contains all the information you need to either start of in the entertainment business, or increase the amount of bookings in your diary with brand-new marketing strategies, once held top secret in this magician’s repertoire. Disc 1: The 2005 Show Collection This disc contains 6 full magic shows, and 2 games performances as seen in the two-hour party. It also includes my 1995 Illusion act. (7 hours) It is all single-camera, left on a window-sill footage so nothing technical, but you get to see the full show as it was back then. It was still the best show around for its day, but as you will see in my later shows, I have developed further and progress in my magical journey as an entertainer. Disc 2: The 2006 Show Collection See two full one-hour birthday magic shows, and his 12 min competition act. It includes several original routines, and his version of the chair suspension. This is hand-held footage, taken from the children's position in the audience. It was a very cold day, and so I wore my large clown coat and demonstrates my progression in costume and character since 2005. Disc 3: The 2007 Show Collection This is two 35 minute shows, all containing brand new original effects created by Stephen. This is very similar to his current costume, backdrops and routines. This is the main DVD in the set, with a two-camera tripod shoot and properly edited to give you the best viewing experience. It was recorded at a fun-day event and shows almost entirely new routines invented by Stephen himself. Disc 4: The Party Business – Volume 1 Here Stephen explains all the intricacies of starting a business, advertising, leaflet design, show props, marketing, websites etc. Disc 5: The Party Business – Volume 2 Stephen looks at the party structure, costumes, music, disco shows, magic vs. entertainment, control, handling the bad children and more. Disc 6: The Party Business – Volume 3 Stephen goes through all his original material in the 2007 shows and explains how the effects work, and how he devised them. Disc 7: The 2008 Shows This DVD contains a show for a 2-hour show for an 11 year old and a 1 hour show for a 1 year old. Perhaps the toughest ages you can expect to work with. While they may not be a showcase for his best work, these examples of a real live event show how to still entertain and put on an amazing performance while persevering through all the challenges that come with these age groups. Disc 8: The Children's Entertainers Guidebook This disc contains the 314 page ebook, which sells separately at £23. It is presented in Q&A format and covers every topic in the business of children's entertainment. Build a Magical Website is a DVD tutorial video by Stephen Ablett. It goes through the entire concept of building your own website. From the construction of the various pages, optimisation of images, all the way to uploading onto the web and buying a domain name. Watch Stephen as he builds a website for a magician he has never met, which helps promote himself to respective new clients. Just follow along the instructions on your own computer to have your own website working for you within just a few hours. Furthermore, the entire website can be made for free, providing you have internet access and the software program Microsoft FrontPage 2003, which is the most commonly used web-designer program available. You do not need to be an IT expert, or even have used the program before as Stephen goes through each step for you to copy his moves, only changing the text to fit your business and photographs to reflect your show. You still have creative freedom to make changes as you see fit and the DVD goes through several areas that allows you to make the decisions and changes as you decide. For any business that is looking to move onto the web, this package will teach you everything you need to know to make a simple website and get it working for you instantly.
